Creflo Dollar family needs prayer

Creflo Dollar is/was a successful televangelist who was recently accused of abusing his daughter. He is one of the wifer’s favorites.  I don’t know the truth of the story. Without that, I can’t comment on who is right or wrong. But I can tell you this, someone is guilty of folly…..

Father’s Day 2012 is coming up, and I (Duncan Mcshame,  the negative husband), have no idea of what I want for F Day. The wifer has already gotten me  a good book, any way (the last one written by Billy Graham) and so her bases are covered.

Creflo Dollar had some trouble as a father last Friday. Here is his version of events.

In my opinion the daughters are in rebellion and we need to be praying for his daughters.  We need to pray for Creflo and Taffi Dollar as they raise their teenage daughters.

Recently, Bitter Clinger gave some pretty epic commentary about the Consumption Craze of our present culture.

Anyhow, my point is, that like other silly people, I sometimes daydream about the next gift. And usually it is something materialistic. But as I get older, “The gold loses its luster, the jewels cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison. All that is left, is a father’s love for his child.”

Conan the Barbarian-King Osric

Like Solomon, the only gift I really want is wisdom….

Proverbs 6:1-35 (NIV)  are warnings against folly

1 My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, 2  if you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth, 3 then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen in to your neighbor’s hands: Go and humble yourself; press your plea with your neighbor!  4 Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids, 5 Free yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler. 6 Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wide! 7 It has no command, no overseer or ruler, 8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.  9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard?  When will you get up from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest – 11 and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.  12 A scoundrel and villain, who goes about a corrupt mouth, 13 who winks with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, 14 who plots evil with deceit in his heart – he always stirs up dissension.  15 Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed – without remedy.  16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:  17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, 18 hands  that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.  20 My son keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.  21 Bind them upon your heart forever, fasten them around your neck.  22 When you walk, they will guide you, when you sleep, they will watch over; when you awake, they will speak to you.  23 For these commands, are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the correction of discipline are the way to life, 24 keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.  25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, 26 for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life.  27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? 29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.  30 Men do not despise a thief is he steal to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.  31 Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.  32 But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself.  33 Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away; 34 for jealousy arouses a husband’s fury, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.  35 He will not accept any compensation; he will refuse the bribe, however great it is.

We all need to be more humble and do what is right according to the Lord.

Listen to God’s voice

Proverbs is known as book of God‘s wisdom in the Bible.  I will try to write something from it everyday.

Proverbs 1:8-19 NIV version says:

Warning Against Enticement

“Listen my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.  They will be garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.  My son, if sinners, entice you, do not give in to them.  If they say, – “come along with me lets ‘s waylay some harmless soul; let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole like those who go down to the pit; we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our homes with plunder; throw in your lot with us, and we will share common purse” – my son do not go along with them, do not set foot on their path; for their feet rush into sin, they are swift ti shed blood.  How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds!  These men lie in wait for their own blood; they waylay only themselves!  Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the lives of those who get it.”

The first point in this scripture is to listen to your parents.  I was blessed with parents who loved God and taught me the right direction.  I have have messed up some, but their words of wisdom never departed from me. Sometimes we reject what parents teach us; but if you have a Godly upbringing listen to your parents, they are wise.  Do not go with crowd because they are cool.  Listen to God and do what he says, not what some other person tells you.  I am parent now,  I still listen to God and I have to do what he tells me to do.  There are rewards to listening to your parents.

The second point in the scripture is do not be greedy.  The people described in this verse was motivated by greed.  When greed motivates a man’s heart it can make him ruthless.  A greedy man will destroy the life of another and will destroy his own life.

Veggie Tales has song that talks about standing up for what you believe in.  It very important that we all do stand up for God!

Since the Constitution is outdated, let’s abandon it and let Skynet rule America!

Donna Summer died today, aged 63, of Lung Cancer. The Queen of Disco, Diva of the Seventies….all we really are is dust in the wind…..(photo credit: Us Magazine).

So you are probably asking yourself, “What is Duncan doing now? He writes about Ron Paul, he writes about Jesus, he writes about the Joker…..has he finally lost it? Now he writes about disco!?”

While I do love the night life, and I long to boogy (on the disco….oh heck, who am I kidding…..I have no clue what the lyrics are), I’m trying to make a couple of quick points before I get all serious on my overly patient readers.

Only two things are guaranteed….death and taxes….and Obama delivers both….(Picture credit

Point number one was eloquently portrayed by Mel Gibson‘s Braveheart.

The Princess is begging Longshanks for mercy for William Wallace. But even in his death, the hard-hearted king will not relent. And she whispers, so sadly, so softly….”Death comes to us all.”

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not wanting to make this a tacky piece criticizing Donna Summer when the poor lady has just died. All I’m trying to say is….you can have all the wealth, power, and fame you want. You’re still going to die.

Which is why you have to make every day count. You never know which one will be your last. Another great line from Braveheart: “Every man dies, not every man truly lives.”

My second point is a little more touchy. Again I don’t mean to be critical of Donna Summers! She’s meeting her Maker, now, and if any criticism needs to be done, then He is sufficient to do it. But disco was one of the shining elements of the 70’s “Me generation.” And that generation is already beginning to grow old and die. I wonder how many folks from that time are regretting some of the choices they made. I wonder how many of them, on their death beds, or in the here-after, realize, too late, that it really isn’t just about “me…..”

Life really doesn’t mean one thin dime if its only lived for oneself.

Braveheart-Who Wants to Live Forever

I’m about 405 words in, now, and I guess I’d better get to my point (or, at least, vaguely justify my grandiose title). So, as I have done in the past, I will try to shed some light on our modern-day with the wisdom of The Federalist Papers.

The Conclusion which I am warrented in drawing from the observations is that a mere demarcation on parchment of the constitutional limits of the several departments is not a sufficient guard against those encroachments which lead to a tyrannical concentration of all the powers of government in the same hands.-Federalist 48. Madison.

You see, even the Founding Father’s knew that, without a freedom loving populace, without a moral people, without an informed voting citizenry, the Constitution would be nothing but an empty piece of paper. And that is why the movement of Ron Paul “crazies,” while they are right to want a return to the Constitution, can only succeed if that Constitution becomes (like God speaks of His own Laws) written in the very hearts of the people.

Cincinattus was the Washington of Rome. He was offered the throne of Rome, and turned it down, believing that the people should be free…..

So where does that leave us….with crooked politicians that believe that you have to “Go along to get along?”

Santorum on Supporting No Child Left Behind: “Sometimes you take one for the team”

And that is how politics has been for at least the last seventy years. You have to compromise your principles. You have to sell your soul. If you want reelected, you have to betray….

Slaves are made in such ways

Yes, I know. Many of you big government types, many of you corporate CEOs…you are saying, with Robert the Bruce‘s father….”All men betray….all men lose heart.”

And I say, with that bold king whose blood runs in the veins of my best of friends….”I don’t want to lose heart!

For only if I don’t lose heart, only then can I finally go Home. And only then can I finally be free….

David Barton the historian that stands up

This book is not to be confused with the sit-com, The Jeffersons….

David Barton says that “secular is religion free, but Thomas Jefferson was not anitreligious.”

Thomas Jeffferson, David Barton, and Ron Paul: all three have stood for liberty and Christian values. David Barton wrote The Jefferson Lies.

For these great men of God I have one scripture:  Matthew 5:11-13  ” Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.  Rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in heave, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

We continue to praise the Lord like the story Jehoshaphat best told this song of Don Francisco.

Remember that the bible says that the battle is the Lord and the Lord will fight for you!!  Praise the Lord forever more!

David Barton is WallBuilders  which is pro-family organization America’s forgotten history and heroes.  Great man of God to listen to and learn about history.  Here is link:

Ron Paul supporters are praying and it is paying off.   Here is the story.

If you hadn’t guessed….the wifer wants you all to know about David Barton. He is one of our personal heroes, because he digs into history, and tries to demonstrate the Christian foundation of our nation. He’s the first person that ever inspired the wifer with any love of history (rather as Ron Paul was the first person to inspire her with an interest in things political).

He’s recently become famous outside of the evangelical circles, because he appeared on  The Daily Show, with Jon Stewart. And, of coarse, a lot of people really feel that Jon Stewart got the best of David Barton. Blogger after blogger is making fun of Barton, and calling him out as a liar, and praising Jon Stewart for revealing what a wacko Barton is. Silly Christians….believing in God is so bourgeois! Only the illiterate still believe in God.

Don’t get me wrong. I actually like Jon Stewart. I’ve posted some of his stuff on this blog. And I don’t want to get hyper-critical of him when, to be honest, I’ve only had time to watch a few random bits and pieces from the interview. It would be unfair to say that “Jon Stewart is a bad person,” when most of my information is coming second hand.

What I don’t like, is the general attitude that some folks have that, if someone makes fun of something, that something is discredited. We make fun of David Barton because he has some beliefs that don’t match ours, and that proves that he’s wrong. Ron Paul is just a Texas hick that keeps babbling about liberty…..and that proves he’s wrong. The Jews were silly money grubbing people with funny accents….so its all right to take all their money, move them into death camps, and incinerate them. God has a lot of imperfect folks that tell me I shouldn’t have sex with the salacious prostitute…..some of them even think I should only sleep with my wife……being funny makes us wrong.

God is not mocked.

We can laugh all we want, but there are things that are, actually, inherently, if not obviously, true. You don’t want to agree with me that there is a God. That is fine. But surely you agree that slavery is evil. That war, even when it is necessary, is a horrible blight. And that all sane people everywhere will always prefer liberty to tyranny, if they are simply informed how to get it, and have the character to stand and fight for it.

And surely, we all agree (great God in Heaven, I pray we all agree) that a historical truth is a historical truth. Maybe Barton doesn’t have all of his facts right. Or maybe he misinterprets some things. But I think it ironic that some of the people accusing him of fabricating history will vote for history fabricators themselves.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise: Last flight

When I was a kid, I was a geek. Heck….what am I talking about? I’m still a geek! Older, grumpier, balder. But I’m still a geek.

I was roughly ten years old when the space shuttle Columbia first took off. I had a toy Enterprise, the prototypical space shuttle. I played with that thing a lot. My parents were going broke at the time, so I didn’t get a lot of Star Wars toys. So the Space Shuttle got to ferry a lot of my childhood dreams to the imaginary stars.

The Shuttle was, to me, more than a machine. It was the symbol of what America was becoming. It was the realization of the promise of science fiction. The Age of the Future was now the present. In my mind, it will always be linked to Reagan, because he was the president when Columbia first was launched, and when the Challenger tragically exploded. I grew up, life became complicated, and I had a wife and kid to support. I worked like a dog, and sold my soul to the corporate devil in order to provide for them.

I can imagine the spirit of Lenin, smiling over the prospect of his nation leading the world to the stars, as America googles NFL draft picks....

Now, I wake up. The dream is over.

Yes, I gave up the dream of being an astronaut long ago. But, somewhere, buried deep in that place where childhood dreams don’t ever quite die (I hope) there was a still, small voice that said, “You don’t go up there, but your countrymen do. You will never touch the stars, but your son may. Some of the money you work so desperately hard for goes to pay for the Vision of Enlightenment. The Shuttle continues to launch.”

It is finished.

The Enterprise was flown on its last flight today. The Shuttle is designed to embark on a hundred missions. Discovery flew the most flights of any Shuttle. Thirty-nine. Not even half of the promise was kept.

Russia continues to fly missions to the International Space Station. Supposedly, we are the only Superpower, but they continue to explore space. We’re too busy having the Secret Service explore female anatomy. That’s more important, anyway.

One of my favorite T. V. series was Babylon 5. In one of my favorite scenes, Garibaldi (conservative radio icon Jerry Doyle), is discussing a similar topic with a friend. I think he tells it best. “The future ain’t what it used to be.”

What more can I say? Ray Bradbury had two books. Anthologies of his short stories. R is for Rocket. And another, S is for Space. In these stories, he spoke of the wonder, the joy, the glory, the hope….of reaching for the stars. We have traded our dreams for The Dreams of Our Fathers.

If Heaven’s not my home….then Lord, what will I do….?
